5 stakes races — three of that are graded — spotlight the 2020 Los Angeles County Honest Winter Thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos.
The season will start Friday, Dec. 4, and proceed by Sunday, Dec. 20.
Racing is scheduled to be performed Friday-Sunday the primary week (Dec. 4-6) and Thursday-Sunday the ultimate two weeks (Dec. 10-13 and Dec. 17-20). Submit time can be 4 p.m. ET on weekdays and three:30 p.m. ET on weekends.
The Grade 1, $300,000-guaranteed Starlet for fillies and the Grade 2, $200,000-guaranteed Los Alamitos Futurity can be run, respectively, Saturday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 19. Each races are at 1 1/16 miles and are provided at Los Alamitos for the seventh time. The 2 important races had been run beforehand at Hollywood Park (1981-2013).
Corridor of Famer Bob Baffert received each the Starlet and Futurity for a 3rd consecutive yr in 2019, taking the previous with Bast and the latter with Thousand Phrases.
Baffert has received all six runnings of the Futurity at Los Alamitos, taking the 2014 renewal with Dortmund, then scoring with Mor Spirit (2015), Mastery (2016), McKinzie (2017) and Inconceivable (2018) previous to Thousand Phrases’ success.
The opposite graded stakes is the Grade 3, $100,000 Bayakoa Stakes, which can be provided Sunday, Dec. 6. The race at 1 1/16 miles for fillies and mares (3-year-olds and up) returned to the schedule in 2019 after a one-year absence.
The remaining two stakes are at one mile and for 2-year-olds bred or sired in California. The $100,000-guaranteed Soviet Downside for fillies can be run Saturday, Dec. 12, and the $100,000 King Wonderful for colts and geldings can be contested Sunday, Dec. 20.
Dwell racing will proceed to be run with no spectators and solely important personnel allowed inside the ability to conduct this system.
The wagering menu contains the $2 Decide Six, a pair of $1 Decide 4s — races 2-5 and the ultimate 4 — in addition to the favored Gamers’ Decide 5, a 50-cent minimal wager with a low takeout charge of 14 p.c, on the primary 5 races.
The Decide Six can have the usual 70-30 break up, with 70 p.c of the pool going to these tickets with six winners and the remaining 30 p.c going to tickets with 5 of six winners.
Entries for the opening day program can be taken on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
